How to estimate sod
Measure the lawn in rectangles, add them up, and add 5 to 10% for curves and cuts. A standard sod piece is about 2 x 5 ft (10 sq ft), and a pallet usually covers 400 to 500 sq ft, depending on the farm.
Lay sod within a day of delivery and water it right away.
